Meet Joe Amore

Trustee Candidate

My Commitment to You

As your Township Trustee, I will prioritize mental health services, improve transportation infrastructure, and advocate for transparency in government. Together, we can build a stronger, safer, and more connected York Township.

I am ready to bring my experience, dedication, and vision to this role, and I humbly ask for your support.

Joe's Story

Hello, neighbors! My name is Joe Amore, and I’ve proudly called Villa Park and York Township my home since 1986. My wife, Betty, and I have been happily married for 22 years, and after retiring in 2019, we chose to remain in this vibrant community. We’ve experienced firsthand the many advantages of living here, and our strong sense of community drives us to contribute to making York Township an even better place to live.

A Career Rooted in Service and Safety
I retired as a conductor with Union Pacific, where I worked on both freight and Metra trains. Throughout my career, I have been a volunteer with the DuPage Railroad Safety Council where I now serve on the Board.
I  also volunteer with Operation Lifesaver and Metra to provide outreach to reduce train-related accidents by raising awareness about trains and suicide prevention.

Supporting Mental Health
I’m thrilled that our voters recently approved the creation of the York Township 708 Mental Health Board. This new initiative offers an incredible opportunity to provide essential mental health resources to our residents. To succeed, the board must be staffed with experienced, dedicated individuals who understand the needs of our community. Across Illinois, similar boards have already proven to be highly effective, and I am committed to ensuring York Township achieves the same success.

Improving Transportation and Safety for All Residents
Transportation is a growing concern in York Township. The RTA is facing significant financial challenges, and we must prepare for the possibility of reduced Pace and Metra services. Our streets also lack critical infrastructure like sidewalks and protected bike lanes, putting pedestrians and cyclists at unnecessary risk. I am a member of Villa Park's Bike, Pedestrian & Transit Subcommittee of the Environmental Concerns Commission and served as it's first Chair when it was created. As a volunteer there, I work to advocate for safer, more accessible transportation options. I will bring this same commitment and expertise to the Township Board where I will advocate to combine improvements for cyclists and pedestrians.

Promoting Transparency and Fiscal Responsibility
Taxpayer dollars should be managed with transparency and accountability, yet the current Township Board lacks clarity in how funds are being spent. As your Trustee, I will work to ensure spending practices are open and accessible to the public, fostering trust and ensuring that every dollar serves the needs of our community efficiently and effectively.
